If a certain page on an Internet site doesn't load for some reason or if a link is broken, the visitor will see an error page with a generic message. The page shall have nothing in common with the rest of the Internet site, that could make the visitor leave the website. A possible solution in such a case is a feature offered by some hosting providers - the option to set up your own custom error pages which shall have exactly the same style and design as your website and that may contain any text or images that you'd like based on the particular error. There are 4 standard errors which can take place and they involve these particular so-called HTTP status codes - 400, when your world-wide web browser sends a bad request to the server and it can't be processed; 401, in case you are supposed to log in to see some webpage, but you have not done so yet; 403, if you do not have a permission to view a certain page; and 404, if a link which you have clicked leads to a file that doesn't exist. In any of these scenarios, visitors shall be able to see your customized content rather than a generic error page.
Custom Error Pages in Hosting
The custom error pages feature is offered with every single hosting
package that we offer and you'll be able to substitute all the generic pages with your own with no more than a couple of mouse clicks in your Hepsia hosting CP. You will need to develop the actual files and to upload them to your account, and then to set them for a specific domain or subdomain via the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel. You can easily do this for each Internet site hosted in the account individually, so that each group of custom pages shall have the exact same design as the Internet site it is part of. If needed, you could always go back to a default page from our system or to a default Apache server page. One other way to set custom error pages is to create an .htaccess file inside the domain/subdomain root folder and to include a few lines in it. If you have not done this before, you can simply copy the necessary program code from our Help article about the subject.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting
All Linux semi-dedicated hosting
which we offer support personalized error pages and it will not take more than several mouse clicks in your Hepsia hosting Control Panel to use this feature. The option is included in the Hosted Domains section of your Control Panel in which you'll have to enter the links to the custom-made files using very simple drop-down menus and an intuitive interface. Of course, you should upload them to your account before that. If you do not need to use this feature at some point, you can easily disable it just as fast and pick an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be shown when your visitors encounter an error. If you'd prefer, you could also use an .htaccess file to permit the custom made error pages. The file needs to contain a particular line of code as well as a link for each and every error type and you may discover an example of the entire content for all four error types in our Help section.
